Job Title: Customer Service Representative (Part-time)

Reports To: Operations Supervisor

FSLA Status: Non-exempt; At-will

Compensation: Hourly rate is $20.00/hour. We have part-time work available (2-3 shifts). Seattle Monorail Services offers medical insurance to all employees who work a minimum of 25 hours per week. SMS also provides educational assistance for all permanent employees beyond their new-hire probation period (90 days) through our book and tuition reimbursement program.

Position Objective: We are hiring a Part-Time Customer Service Representative who will work hard to ensure passengers continue to have a positive experience on the Monorail throughout one of the Monorail’s most exciting transformations since 1962!

Who are you: An enthusiastic lover of transportation, events and people. You have a true passion for engaging in meaningful interactions and creating memorable experiences for all guests. You strive to be helpful, engaging and knowledgeable of all things Monorail and Seattle Center related. Customer Service Representatives know that first impressions are everything. One must provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional experience for all our customers riding the iconic Monorail. Lastly, you enjoy working hard and in a team environment.

Shifts are typically 7-9 hours in length. The Monorail is open 7 days per week, 363 days per year. We are looking for employees who are flexible and able to work weekends. We believe in work-life balance and work hard to ensure our employees have two consecutive days off in a row; we also produce employees schedules at least one month in advance.

Essential Functions:

  • Welcome guests and answer general questions about Seattle Center Monorail
  • Remain knowledgeable about operating hours and ticket prices
  • Provide superior customer service
  • Comfortable following company social-distancing and PPE requirements
  • Provide general Seattle tourism information to guests
  • Assist with troubleshooting of ticket kiosks and crowd control on our platform
  • Manage lines on our platforms

 

Training Overview: In order to become a Customer Service Representative, you must:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Complete and maintain First Aid and CPR certification and safety training

 

Education, Experience, And Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred
  • Previous experience working with customers and working with a team. Proven excellent customer service skills
  • Outgoing, friendly disposition and a team player; you’re always willing to give and ask for help
  • Welcoming personality and enthusiasm interacting with a diverse population
  • Strong communication skills, comfort with guest interaction and large crowds
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and flexibility should difficult situations arise

  • Flexible schedule and ability to work evening hours, weekends and holidays. Must have availability to work 80% of scheduled events monthly

Job Title: Monorail Driver and Customer Service Representative (Hybrid position)

Reports to: Operations Supervisor

FSLA Status: Non-exempt; At-will

Compensation and Schedule: Starting hourly rate is $20.00/hour. Upon successfully passing Monorail Operator Training, hourly rate increases to $21.00/hour.

Seattle Monorail Services offers medical insurance to all employees who work a minimum of 25 hours per week. Plan enrollment occurs on the first day of the month following the plan’s 60-day waiting period and sometimes falls within the new-hire probationary period (90 days). All permanent employees beyond their new-hire probationary period are eligible to participate in the company SIMPLE-Individual Retirement Account plan as well as our book and tuition reimbursement program.

We have full-time and part-time work available that includes the weekend. Once trained, most shifts available are closing shifts that typically end at 11:00pm unless there is an event at Climate Pledge Arena that requires a late closure (could be as late as 12:30-1:00am).   • Operate the Monorail trains in a safe and professional manner while meeting on-time performance requirements
  • Provide superior customer service
  • Actively participate in our Employee Safety Reporting Program
  • Communicating operational status of the system with maintenance and operations staff
  • Cleaning or coordinating with janitorial team to maintain a sanitary, tidy train, and station
  • Following safety protocols and communicating with Operations, police, and security personnel for the purpose of maintaining safety and security
  • Perform any other duties that are required by the Operations Supervisor or Manager
  • Welcome guests and answer general questions about Seattle Center Monorail
  • Remain knowledgeable about operating hours and ticket prices as well as general Seattle Center visitor information
  • Assist with troubleshooting of ticket kiosks and crowd control at Monorail Stations

 

Training Overview:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening, all subsequent random screenings, and DOT physical exams;
  • Successfully complete, within 3-months of hire date, the Seattle Monorail Driver Training and Certification process, which requires:
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Clean driving record with no violations in the last three years for a suspended license, moving violations, reckless or negligent driving, DUI, hit-and-run incidents, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, or more than one at-fault accident;
  • Complete and maintain First Aid and CPR certification and safety training.

Job Title: Janitor (Full-Time)

FSLA Status: Non-exempt; At-will

Compensation and Schedule: Hourly rate is $20.00/hour

Seattle Monorail Services is hiring a full-time janitor. Janitorial shifts are available from 6:00am-2:00pm daily (including weekends). A full-time janitor is expected to work 4 or 5 days per week depending on the applicant’s availability. Required workdays are Thursday-Sunday with an option to add an additional workday on Wednesday or Monday. Training will be provided on site.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform daily cleaning of the Monorail Stations (Seattle Center and Westlake Center), Monorail Trains, and offices, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and disinfecting surfaces, cleaning windows, restocking supplies, garbage removal, etc.
  • Maintain janitorial storage and supplies area in a neat, orderly fashion.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly cleaning as directed, including leaf blowing and power washing Seattle Center Station.
  • Understanding and complying with SMS standard operating procedures and emergency procedures, including assisting operations team during emergency situations, and communicating with operations team when cleaning has been completed.
  • Respond to requests for immediate clean up in stations or on train.
  • Assist SMS Management as necessary.
  • Potential to cross-train as a Customer Service Representative.

Training Overview:

  • Complete and maintain First Aid and CPR certification and safety trainings (provided)

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to proficiently read, write, and speak English.
  • Strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, courteous, and polite manner.
  • Working knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and supplies.
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish duties with minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks regardless of interruptions.
  • Must have the ability to think and act well under pressure or stress.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 30 lbs.
